By James Renoux-Wood - Wed 17 December 2014, 11:40 am

A national fitness chain is opening a new gym in Barking just before Christmas.

Councillor Elizabeth Kangethe, the mayor of Barking and Dagenham, will be in attendance on Monday 22 December to open The Gym Barking, a 1,250sq m facility, located at The Clock House in East Street.

The Gym Barking will offer 24-hour access for seven days a week. Membership costs £16.99 a month, with no commitments necessary for long-term contracts.

Lee McDonough, who has worked for over five years in the borough’s leisure sector, has been appointed as general manager.

He said: “I am really excited about continuing my support for the community here in Barking, helping more local people overcome barriers to fitness and also motivating and guiding them to reach their fitness goals.”
