Countryside Properties has won planning permission after lodging revised plans for the Fresh Wharf Estate in Barking.
The proposal to reduce the number of residential units from 950 to 911 was approved by the planning committee in March. Retail space has also been reduced.
The revision to the plan also allows more homes to have riverside views or courtyards and an adapted river walk is to be built, as well as open spaces for residents with a piazza-style public square on the river.
The site is located near the town centre with nearby access to the A406 and A13 and a boundary on the River Roding.
Original consent was granted in March 2011.
