Be First, Barking and Dagenham Council's wholly owned development company, is considering expressions of interest for building London's biggest film and TV studios in Dagenham East, following deadline closure at the end of January.

The studio, with potentially at least 11,613sq m of stage space, would be the largest built in London for 25 years and could generate around 780 full-time jobs for the borough.

With film and TV production spending in the UK almost tripling since 2000, to £1.6 billion in 2016, the proposed studio would be able to work on large-scale productions, as well as contributing to the ongoing regeneration of east London and the Thames estuary.

Be First is examining the submissions of interest before the next stage of consultation.
