Barking's fourth annual Summer of Festivals will launch this year with the Barking Folk Festival, taking place on the 9-10 June weekend at Abbey Green and Abbey Ruins.
The two-day family-friendly festival celebrates folk music and dance from around the world and features workshops, street theatre and group activities. The evening concert in the Abbey Ruins showcases popular folk musicians, including former Mercury Music Prize runners-up, The Unthanks.
Other festivals include the Eastbrookend Country Fair (24 June) at Eastbrookend Country Park, the Steam and Cider Fair (30 June) at Old Dagenham Park and the One Borough Festival on 21 July at Parsloes Park.
