Barking & Dagenham College has been praised as "impressive" during a site visit by Ofsted chief inspector Amanda Spielman.
The college's director of student support, Nicky Gibson took Spelman on a whistle-stop tour tour of the college, while explaining its work to tackle knife crimes and gangs, which includes an information sharing agreement with the police.
At the end of her visit, Spielman added: "It was a truly inspiring visit. It’s a college that is motoring on and doing really well."
The City of London Corporation is about to buy Barking Power Station site in east London for around £125 million, according to Property Week.
A £25 million grant for Barking and Dagenham Council will help it support new housebuilding over the next four years.
