Developer Weston Homes has shared its “delight” at being able to support major events in the borough this year.

Planning permission was granted earlier this year for a major £350m regeneration scheme to transform Abbey Retail Park in Barking, after Weston Homes and Estates & Agency were given planning permission to create Abbey Quays.

The development will provide 1,089 new homes, with 737 one, two and three-bedroom apartments and penthouses for private sale, and 352 as affordable housing through affordable rent, shared ownership and discount market-sale tenures.

The apartments are spread across 13 residential blocks split across three buildings, which range from seven to 29 storeys, and will also feature commercial space, a community hall, leisure space including a new riverside pub/restaurant, and a training centre/gym area.

The huge urban renewal project will look out onto the River Roding, as well as providing quick access to both road and public transport links. Bob Weston, chief executive at Weston Homes, highlighted the importance of the company's community involvement in the area. The company once again sponsored the borough’s major festivals this year.

He added: “Weston Homes was delighted to once again show its support towards the local area and community through sponsoring this year's Barking & Dagenham's Summer of Festivals, specifically the Barking Folk Festival, One Borough Festival and the Youth Parade.”
